Lithium Product Purchase Disclaimer

Assumption of Risk

By purchasing any Lithium Battery Product from Sleepco, you acknowledge and assume all risks associated with lithium batteries or products containing lithium. These risks include, but are not limited to, leakage, fire, or explosion caused by:

  • Overheating or overcharging
  • Internal short circuits due to cell damage
  • External short circuits from faulty wiring or battery terminals contacting metallic items during storage or transport

Safety Precautions

You agree to:

  • Read all safety warnings and instructions before using or charging the battery, including the NZI Risk Management guide on lithium batteries
  • Stop using the battery immediately if it exhibits any of the following symptoms:
  • Excessive overheating
  • Strange odours or noises
  • Leaking
  • Change in colour or shape
  • Follow all manufacturer's care and use instructions and comply with regulations and applicable laws
  • Ensure all devices have necessary protection circuits installed with the battery

Usage Guidelines

To minimise the risk of damage, residual leakage, fire, or explosion, you must:

  • Always store batteries in a fireproof container and charge them in an isolated area away from flammable materials
  • Avoid disassembling, crushing, cutting, puncturing, short circuiting, incinerating, or exposing batteries to fire, water, or extreme temperatures
  • Not use damaged, peeling, punctured, dented, or cosmetically altered batteries
  • Not use batteries with products that operate at a higher electrical current
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children and pets
  • Not mix old and new batteries or batteries from different brands or types
  • Not build your own battery pack or charger
  • Not modify chargers or batteries
  • Always use a smart charger with protection circuits

Warranty Policy

Sleepco warrants that all complementary products (inverters, converters, chargers, etc.) are free from defects for 30 days from the date of purchase. After 30 days, the manufacturer's standard warranty applies (1 year from the date of purchase, unless otherwise specified).

Exclusions

This limited warranty does not apply to product damage or failure resulting from:

  • Negligence other than by Sleepco
  • Accidents (including damage during shipment and natural disasters)
  • Circumstances beyond the control of Sleepco (including normal capacity loss or increased resistance due to ageing)
  • Improper installation, unintended operation, or storage (including storage in an overly discharged state)
  • Damage directly or indirectly caused by the product owner, third parties, or other products (including misuse, abuse, overcharging, over-discharging, exceeding product limitations, neglect, physical damage, vibration damage, alterations, poor connections, or connection to poorly-grounded battery chargers)

Relocation Outside New Zealand

If the product is relocated outside New Zealand during the warranty period, the product owner will be responsible for any additional charges incurred during the warranty process due to such relocation.

Limitation of Liability

Sleepco is not liable for any personal injury or property damage caused by the negligent use of these products, manufacturing defects, or their applications.

By purchasing any Lithium Battery Product from Sleepco, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms and conditions outlined in this disclaimer.
